The English name tri-n-butyl borate,CAS of tributyl borate is 688-74-4. Tributyl borate is stable under normal condition. It is easy to be hydrolyzed in acidic medium. It is easy to form a stable complex with alcohol, which is acidic.

In terms of solubility, tributyl borate is soluble in methanol, esters, acetylacetone and carbon tetrachloride, and soluble in ethanol. Tributyl borate is an intermediate for the preparation of borohydride compounds, which is used to synthesize rubber additives, lubricating oil additives, semiconductor boron diffuser, fireproof agent, adhesive, anhydrous system dehydration desiccant and so on.

The preparation is simple and is obtained by the reaction of butanol with H3BO3.
